Food for thought!

It came to my mind today as I was looking over the produce in the grocery store that I was feeling and looking like a shriveled up old prune! What would make me feel better I asked myself? A juicy ripe colorful PEACH!! Did you know that peaches greatly benefit the skin’s elasticity and appearance.  The phrase ‘peaches and cream skin’ developed because in the olden times, women used peach scrubs and masks to help create a radiant glow to the skin. As I sat down to relax a moment and eat my peach, I realized I was beginning to feel alot better! was it all that Vitamen A  I wondered?” . As I reached the peaches core, it was then that I realized what is was that had turned on my happy tune! THOSE FEW QUIET MOMENTS ALL TO MYSELF! because after all our inner core is just as important as the peaches and cream skin we all want to have isnt it?

You can give yourself a mini spa treatment Sunday morning while your making the family breakfast, here’s how!

I am not a fan obviously of anything that requires to much effort and above all time! We often forget to take special care of our skin during the week as life is just to busy. On Sunday morning while you are making the scrambled eggs, separate one for yourself  and squeeze a bit of lemon juice and mix. Use your fingers to spread the egg white over your face and let it dry. 5-10 minutes then rinse off. This egg white mask will  remove dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling silky and smooth.

I never worry about eating to much on holidays because the day after I do a full 24 hrs of nothing but a high protein/no fat diet. My food diary looks like this on a protein day.

Breakfast : Two boiled eggs, coffee sweetened with splenda or stevia and non fat half/half cream.

Lunch : left over turkey topped with non feta cheese

Afternoon treat is a non-fat latte

Dinner : grilled fillet of salmon (seasoned with salt, pepper, paprika, oregano and lemon juice with plain non fat greek yogurt on the side.

The 24hrs of protein will melt away the extra pounds put on from to many holiday treats.

You guessed it your beauty sleep is the most important thing you can do for yourself and your family. Your body heals inflammation while you sleep that occurs during the day and can help reduce wrinkles, dryness, etc. Anti stress hormones are at their peak when we sleep which is why sleep is so powerful for healing. If you are having trouble sleeping start an exercise program during the day and drink some chamomile or lavender tea before bedtime.

A 5 minute exercise routine in the morning that helped me lose 30 pounds!

November 5, 2011 Leave a comment

We all know that morning crunch time that starts when the kids wake up and we have to get ready to get out the door, so finding time for exercise when your a mom is tough! I recently lost the 30 pounds of baby weight I had been unable to get off and one of the things I did religiously every morning was the Pilates 100! Lie on your back and bring the legs up to a 90 degree angle, (lower them a bit for a challenge once you feel a bit stronger ) then lift your head and shoulders up and start pumping your arms by the sides of your hips. Do this 100 times while you breathe in and out! It doesn’t sound like much but it will get the oxygen flowing through your blood and give you a boost of energy. It helped build my abdominal muscles back after having a c-section.
